What does it have?
An appeal that only Harley-Davidsons can possess. Every motorcyclist, at some point or another, wants a Harley. And the Super Low is the most affordable way to finally become part of the legend. As usual, that classic V-twin engine steals the show, assisted by those twin stacked exhausts. You almost don’t notice the tiny headlamp, the teardrop tank and the classy fenders. While it comes with a single seat, you can add a pillion seat as an option. But do you really want to?


What does it do?
Rocks your world. It moves, sounds and feels like only a Harley can. What it lacks in outright power, it makes up with truckloads of character and that distinctive sound. The 883cc engine (‘motor’ doesn’t do it justice!) produces 7.13 kgm of torque at 3,750 rpm — it’s not about going fast, but enjoying the scenery at a leisurely pace, letting the torque do the talking via that glorious sound. Normal rules don’t apply here.

How much?
Rs 5.5 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. We won’t say anything. If you want a Harley, you’ve probably made your mind up and nothing is going to stop you.

How much?
Rs 4.75 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. More expensive and heavier than the Ninja, the Hyosung is for those who want the V-twin experience in a sporty package.


What does it do?
Offers you a twin-cylinder motor, but with a difference. The GT650R’s 647cc motor features a V-twin configuration, and as such it’s a very different animal compared to the Ninja. It feels gruff, while the Ninja feels smooth. And the Hyosung’s almost as quick — it does 0 to100 kmph in around 5.5 seconds and has a top speed that matches the Ninja’s. However, the GT650R has an extremely sporty riding position that feels right only on twisty roads, when you’re having fun. On straights, your back will beg for mercy. But what’s a bit of pain if it makes you feel young again, right?

What does it do?
Everything you want. The Ninja’s 649cc parallel twin motor produces 71.1 bhp that can take you from 0-100 kmph in around 5 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 200 kmph. It’s a motor that will never get tired of delivering fun by the tonne. And all that power is kept in check by the competent chassis that allows for stable and fun handling, whether you’re in a straight line or on your favourite mountain roads. What’s more, the Ninja’s sporty but friendly riding position will let you go on those cross-country trips that you always wanted to. Enough to take you 10 years back in time, eh?

First modified new Beetle is a GT3 RS


Here is the first modified version of Volkswagen's new Beetle by VW Vortex. It has been decked out in Porsche 911 GT3 RS colours. Those of you with an acute sense of history might see this as an expensive, visual statement on a Porsche 911's real identity.


This one only wears a posh suit for now, not being road legal and all. It sits on 20in custom finished orange GT3 RS-type alloys (nine inches wide, no less), H&R stainless steel adjustable coilover springs, a custom-fitted Borla exhaust, Forge carbon fibre intake system, Brembo brakes and, of course, the GT3 RS-style ‘Beetle RS' graphic.


Vortex says this is just Stage I, with upcoming modifications including a GT3 RS rear wing, turbo upgrade and even a locking torque biasing differential. Whether Vortex has budgeted the inevitable therapy lessons this rather confused Beetle/911 hybrid will require is uncertain.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG goes topless

Though the chassis had to be reinforced to make up for the drop in structural rigidity when the roof was lopped off, the overall weight of the SLS AMG Roadster has gone up by just 40kg over the coupe.


The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG certainly made waves when it was launched in 2009. But by the end of this year, the German luxury car maker is slated to make a new version of the SLS which ditches the trademark gullwing doors and opts for a million miles of head room instead. Dubbed the SLS AMG Roadster, it will be provide an  ultimate al fresco motoring experience, as it will pack the same 6.2-litre V8 engine as its coupe cousin, which produces a massive 579PS and an even more unbelievable 650Nm of torque.

The three-layer fabric soft-top is constructed of lightweight materials to keep the car's centre of gravity low. Moreover, though the chassis had to be reinforced to make up for the drop in structural rigidity when the roof was lopped off, the overall weight of the SLS AMG Roadster has gone up by just 40kg over the coupe. Brilliant packaging ensures that even with the roof folding away in the back, the Roadster has just three litres of boot space less than the coupe. Skoda Fabia RS2000 goes topless!

New concept from Skoda chops the roof off four-door Fabia, to sweet results.


Every year, for the last thirty years, the Volkswagen Group has been celebrating the spirit of the hot hatch on the shores of Lake Wothersee in Austria. This year however was something special. Not only did we see a funky tuned version of the VW Golf and the Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro concept, but we also saw the little Czech marque, Skoda, outdo the biggies. On display at the GTI-Treffen festival, Skoda unveiled just how hot the humble Fabia can become, if given the right design treatment. Starting off with the existing Fabia RS, Skoda’s designers added a widebody kit with 18-inch wheels to give it a stance like its S2000 rally counterpart and then promptly lopped off the roof. The end result is a four-door roadster with four individual racing seats and harnesses, carbon fibre trim and a 2.0-litre twin turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes over 200hp. So our only question is, where can we book one?
